Access to 1 Wimpole Street for visitors with impaired mobility
Accessible meeting rooms
All meeting rooms at One Wimpole Street are wheelchair accessible.
The Main lecture theatre has removable chairs and enough space for up to 7 wheelchair users. The Max Rayne Auditorium has removable chairs and enough space for up to 4 wheelchair users.
A wheelchair is available at reception, and an evacuation chair is stored in the main stairwell at first floor level.
All floors of the library are accessible via a lift/ramp.
* Please note when we refer to wheelchair we are referring to a standard size non-powered wheelchair, please contact the Events office on 020 7290 2951 for further information on accessibility for various powered wheelchair users.
The total weight limit for the wheelchair lift into the Wimpole Room is 250kg.
Parking
There is one public disabled parking space near the main entrance on Wimpole Street.
Toilets
Accessible toilets are located:
- Mezzanine floor in the Library
- Ground floor, beside the Max Rayne Atrium and in the Members Area
- Basement, located below the Atrium (there is one cubical in each of the male and female toilets which are suitable for ambulant disabled persons)
Facilities for visually impaired and deaf or hard of hearing visitors
Guide dogs
Guide dogs and dogs that have specific training are welcome for events.
The main reception desk has water bowls available.
Audio loops
An audio loop is available in the Fellows reception.
Individual Induction loop or headphones for Hard of Hearing are available in the Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium available upon request from the Audio Visual Department.
Text phones
Unfortunately we are currently unable to provide text phones for the hard of hearing or deaf.
