One Wimpole Street Promotional evening
On Wednesday 27 June 2007, One Wimpole Street played host to its' summer promotional evening as a start to the rebranding and re-launch of its conference facilities.
The Occasion
The event was held to market the conference and events facilities at One Wimpole Street to a wider commercial market. The Royal Society of Medicine has a heritage of holding meetings and conferences for over two hundred years and wanted to demonstrate the location, the quality of its conference facilities, audio visual specifications and its food services.
Guests were invited for 6pm where they checked in at the registration desks before moving into the Atrium for a reception drink of Pink Champagne and raspberries. Guests then were invited to proceed into the 300 seat Main Lecture Theatre where they were given a 20 minute demonstration on the technical capabilities.
Upon the conclusion of the presentation guests returned to the Atrium and Events Dining Room to enjoy the market style food counters and cocktail bar.
The Catering
- As the guests arrived for the pink champagne reception they were tempted with a range of hand made canapés which included Jerk chicken and sweet potato shot with mango cream, Salt fish and lobster fritters with rice, peas and coconut crisps Foie gras pannacotta, brioche wafer and light cep oil, and a crab and paw paw tian with devilled shallot salad
- When the guests returned from the presentation they were treated to a food market of various stalls that included
- A pasta bar where guests were invited to watch tortellini and ravioli made and cooked in front of them
- An oyster bar where Oysters were shucked in front of the guests for there choice of seasoning to be added - squeezed lemon, shallot vinaigrette or Tabasco
- A Charcuterie stall of cured meats of Bresaola, Parma ham and salami were shaved and served on various Foccacia's
- Hot salt beef with mini bagels pickled gherkin and French mustard
- Build your own cheesecake factory - a base cheesecake which guests were invited to add there own toppings and sauces.
In addition several of One Wimpole Streets' suppliers joined forces on the event and fantastic ranges of cheese, oils and dressings were supplied by H&B and artisan breads and focaccia's from Duponds.
How we used our Audio Visual
The guests entered the lecture theatre to modern music which demonstrated the quality of the sound amplification and speaker system. The audience was then shown the full capability of the projection system, the highly specified lectern where the Events Manager utilised the AMX control panel and PC to manage the presentation.
The finale to the presentation was a virtual quiz using the IML wireless delegate voting and response hand sets, where the questions were displayed on the projection and plasma screens and then the answers displayed in the same graphical format as a popular television programme. Upon completion of the quiz, the Marketing Director using her hand set microphone (which when activated showed her face on the two 50 " Plasma screens either side of the stage), invited guests back to Atrium to continue the party.
Outcome
The guests that were attended the event were thrilled about One Wimpole Street as a venue as previously many had thought it only available to the medical and pharmaceutical professions - this is not the case. There was almost disbelief as to the high specification of audio visual equipment and the almost endless potential it had.
