One Wimpole Street's lecture theatres and meeting rooms offer a wide range of audio visual equipment and services with full support from our in-house AV team.
Our Main Lecture theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium have professionally installed AV facilities to enable speakers to give dynamic multimedia presentations with full control via an AMX touch screen control system.
Information is provided below regarding specific audio visual equipment and services. For further information please contact the One Wimpole Street AV Team on 020 7290 3849 or audio.visual@rsm.ac.uk.
Data projection
The Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium have lectern PC's and ceiling mounted XGA (1024 x 768 resolution) data projectors with connectors for presenters to link up their own laptop if required. Audio from the presentation is reinforced by the in-built PA systems. An AV technician will be present to set up and monitor all presentations for the meetings duration.
Laptops (Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003(with 2007 viewer)) and data projectors (or large LCD screens) are available for hire in all other rooms on request.
The AV team are ready to assist in setting up and trouble-shooting at the start of all meetings that involve data projection and are 'on-call' throughout the day if needed.
Those using data projection can bring their presentation files on a variety of media including USB flash drives, CDs, floppy disks or via e-mail to audio.visual@rsm.ac.uk, bringing a back up copy of the file is a good insurance.
In the Main Lecture Theatre dual projection is possible from two data sources or data and video.
Presenters are welcome to use their own laptops and arerecommended to check compatibility with our system before the day of the event. The AV team will be pleased to advise any presenter/organiser before the event.
Interactive audience response system
One Wimpole Street utilises IML audience response systems. The Main Lecture Theatre has a built in system with a keypad in the arm of every chair. Up to another 150 keypads are available for use in any other meeting room. This facility allows for an interactive element during meetings to engage your audience in presentations, gather instant feedback data, assess knowledge and canvas opinion. All response data can be stored, collected and analysed. The software is embedded as an 'object' in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.
All the IML keypads contain a microphone for audience participation in Q & A sessions (PA system required).
There are many types of questions that can be used with the interactive software, for a full description contact the AV Team or browse through the relevant IML website page.
Hard of hearing
The Main lecture theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium sound systems feed infra-red emitters for the hard of hearing. These drive individual wireless headsets which work with a delegate's own hearing aid or provide amplified sound through an earpiece.
Video recording
The AV Team can video record any size meeting in any meeting room at One Wimpole Street.
The Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium are equipped with several ceiling mounted pan/tilt/zoom cameras to cover speakers at the lectern, debate sessions at the stage desks and audience participation. Tripod mounted cameras and audio recording equipment are used in other rooms.
Video recorded footage can be edited and produced on a master DVD (or other format as per request) with customized menus, chapters and further material, as requested. Once the DVD is created it can be mass produced if required.
Webcasting
Meetings can be broadcast live via webcasts either on a free or pay to view basis. A customised micro site can be set up and the video can be viewed on demand for any period of time required after the event.
Videoconferencing
Both the Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium are linked to a Tandberg 6000 video-conferencing unit which connects over 3 ISDN lines (384 bit/sec) and live link ups with multiple sites can be made throughout an event.
CD-ROM
Interactive CD-ROMs can be produced in advance or after an event. Information, speaker biographies, sponsor details and PowerPoint slides can be included on a disk presented to delegates on the day. Alternatively, video footage of the speakers taken during the day alongside the slides can be included and the CD-ROM can be made available after the event (allow 5 Days).
Audio recording
An audio recording of meetings can be made in any room at One Wimpole Street. In the Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium, a sound system is already present, for all other rooms, microphones and recording equipment will be set up as necessary. If the recording is required for something more than transcription or a simple record of the event, it is advisable to hire a technician to monitor the recording throughout the meeting.
The recording can be produced on CD or cassette or simply transferred to a clients own laptop or flash drive.
Sound reinforcement
The Main Lecture Theatre, Max Rayne Auditorium and the Lower Atrium Theatre all feature an integrated PA system. Mobile PA systems can be set up in any other room at One Wimpole Street.
Wired or wireless microphones, on a stand, handheld or clip-on are provided as requested. Laptop, video and CD audio is also patched through the PA systems.
Plasma screens
Large Plasma/LCD screens are wall mounted either side of the stage in both the Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium. These can be fed from a variety of video and data sources and are useful for sponsors logos, messaging, video links, etc.
Large mobile LCD screens and stands are also available for use anywhere else at One Wimpole Street, such as at trade stands or as an alternative to a projector and screen in small committee rooms.
Internet access
Internet access is available at the lectern PCs in the lecture theatres and via Wi-Fi throughout the public areas of One Wimpole Street, access codes are required.
For access to a secure server (i.e. vpn or https) or to use special services, the IT department needs advance notification as all traffic is only through port 80 and other ports will only be opened at the IT department's discretion depending on security implications. It is advisable that the user has a basic knowledge of the network and security set up on their laptop, or has technical support available.
Simultaneous translation
Simultaneous translation can be provided through our approved suppliers in any of our lecture theatres and large meeting rooms. Translation booths with teams of expert translators are set up outside the rooms and several languages can be translated instantly via infra-red headsets to event delegates.
AV technician
A technician is provided throughout the event to monitor all audio visual from the control room for both the Main Lecture Theatre and the Max Rayne Auditorium. For all other rooms a technician will attend before a meeting starts, to assist clients set up.
Technicians are on-call throughout the day to assist and trouble-shoot, alternatively a technician can be hired to remain in a meeting room throughout an event.
Other equipment and services
35mm slide projectors are available if requested, however, in the Main Lecture Theatre and Max Rayne Auditorium a slide scanner is used to convert the slides to video and display them through the data projector. Similarly, overhead projectors are available for all rooms but a visualiser is used in the lecture theatres which displays documents via a camera as video through the data projector.
